Elkhorn Valley Scholarships

Elkhorn Valley students are the only students qualified for the following scholarships. All applications are due April 6, 2007. The Tilden Bank Scholarship is due April 15th, 2007.

NEW! The Tilden Bank Student Scholarship ($500)
> Tilden Bank Application (Word Document)

  • A graduating senior at EVHS,
  • have been accepted at an accredited university, college or vocational school
  • a participant in extra-curricular school and/or community activities.

NEW! Robert & Joan Hodgson Memorial Scholarship ($1,250)
> Hodgson Memorial Application (Word Document)

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • A student who is attending a 2- or 4-year college program.

NEW! Elkhorn Valley Alumni Scholarship ($500)
> EV Alumni Application (Word Document)

  • A graduating senior at EVHS,
  • have a grade point average of C+ or higher (2.75), and
  • have been accepted at an accredited university, college or vocational school.

NEW! Tom Westfall Scholarship ($150)
> Westfall Application (Word Document)

  • A graduating senior at EVHS,
  • attending Northeast Community College and
  • pursuing an Industrial Arts degree.

Doc Hodgson Memorial Scholarship ($400)
> Hodgson Application (Word Document)

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • A student who has applied and been accepted at least to a two-year program.
  • Priority to students pursuing agricultural field of study.
  • Participation in extra-curricular activities.

Connita Nietzke Memorial Scholarship ($150)
> Nietzke Application (Word Document)

  • A graduate of Elkhorn Valley Schools.
  • Grade point average of at least a C or equivalent.
  • Enrolled in college with a major or minor in music; third prioity planning to major in education.
  • The recipient will receive $150.00 to be used for the college of their choice.

Elizabeth Deckert Teacher Scholarship (varies)

  • A graduating senior at EVHS.
  • Have been accepted at an accredited university, college or vocational school.
  • Be pursuing a teaching degree.

Fritz & Mamie Johnson Scholarship (varies)
> Johnson Application (Word Document)

  • Overall character of the student, and the likelihood that he or she will complete the requirements for a bachelor's degree.
  • The student's overall grade average, which must be at least a C+.
  • The student's need for financial assistance.
  • The student's participation in extra-curricular, community, and/or school activities.

Hofmann Memorial Scholarship ($500)
> Hofmann Application (Word Document)

  • Be a senior student at Elkhorn Valley Schools who ranks in the upper half of the class.
  • Be a student who has applied and been accepted to a post-secondary institution.

Jean Day Scholarship ($600)
> Jean Day Application (Word Document)

  • A senior student at Elkhorn Valley Schools.
  • Must complete written application & oral presentation.

Paul and Carrie Corkle Scholarship ($600)

  • A senior student at Elkhorn Valley Schools and ranked in the upper third of the class.
  • A student who has applied and been accepted to a post-secondary institution, including a two- or four-year college or university in Nebraska.

Paul Cooper Memorial Scholarship (varies)

  • Financial need.
  • The student's over-all four-year grade point average, must be at least a C+ average.
  • Extra-curricular activities.
  • Over-all character of the student.
  • Expected to major in (list in order of preference): 1) Fine Arts, 2) School Counseling, 3) Any specialized area in vocational education.

Tilden Alumni Scholarship ($300)
> Tilden Alumni Application (Word Document)

  • A graduating seniors at EVHS,
  • have a grade point average of C+ or higher (2.75), and
  • have been accepted at an accredited university, college or vocational school.

VFW Scholarship ($100 savings bond)
> VFW Application (Word Document)

  • Awarded to one male and one female student.
  • Veteran connected (parent or grandparent).
  • Submit essay describing future educational plans.

Wrestling Scholarship (varies)
> Wrestling Application (Word Document)

  • A senior student involved in the wrestling program.
  • Scholarship will be awarded after the completion of one year of post-secondary education.

 

 

Other EV Scholarships

Students at Elkhorn Valley are eligible for the following scholarships, an application is not required.

Elkhorn Valley Booster Club Scholarship ($100)
> Random drawing awarded at Honors Night, must be in attendance to receive.

Legion Auxiliary Citizenship Award ($75)
> One senior girl selected by the Legion Auxiliary.

Lions Club ($150)
> One senior boy or girl selected by the Lions Club.

Be aware of scholarship scams! Never pay for services, not even $1.00.

Here are some general guidelines:

  • Type everything.

  • Follow directions precisely.

  • Meet deadlines.

  • Plan early, some applications require recommendations that could take several days to complete.
These may seem very simple, but you would be amazed at how easily an application can be discarded--merely because of a simple oversite.
