APPLIED MATH--(For freshmen or above). We will introduce and study keeping money records, gross and average pay, regular and overtime pay, net pay, fringe benefits, and commissions, metric measurements, budgeting and buying, borrowing money, saving, and investing money.

PRE-ALGEBRA--(For freshmen or above). This course is designed to provide guidance in the fundamentals of arithmetic while basic abstractions of beginning algebra are introduced and practiced

ALGEBRA I--(For freshmen or above). Early in the course emphasis is placed on meanings of terms and operations with signed numbers. Later we learn to factor polynomials and multiply polynomials so that we can apply this to work with fractions involving variables. Story problems are a very important part of the course. We also work with inequalities and learn to graph quantities involving one and two variables. Some time is spent on irrational numbers and quadratic functions.

ALGEBRA II--(For sophomores and above). Prerequisite: Algebra I. Review of the fundamental skills of algebra learned in Algebra I. Systems of linear equations in two and three variables are studied. Algebra problems from chemistry and physics are emphasized. Also covered are trigonometric functions, polar coordinates, similar triangles, complex numbers, completing the square, and devising and using the quadratic formula.

ADVANCED MATHEMATICS-Geometry, trigonometry, Algebra --(For juniors and seniors). Prerequisite: C+ or better in Algebra . Review and practice skills learned in Algebra and study proofs of geometry. Also studied are logarithms, trig identities, conic sections, matrices and determinants. Emphasis is placed on abstract word problems and the study of similar and congruent polygons. We also study many pre-calculus concepts.

CALCULUS-with trigonometry and analytic geometry--(For seniors). Prerequisite: C+ or better in Advanced Mathematics. An intensive review of the topics from algebra, trigonometry and analytic geometry that is necessary for success in calculus. There are lessons on limits, continuity, the derivative, differentiability and related topics. Students will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of calculus that is necessary for success in upper division mathematics courses.
